We deliver a fully stocked, family-sized travel trailer to your campsite anywhere in the Birmingham metro, set it all up, and hand you the keys. You bring the marshmallows. We'll handle the rest.
Meet Your Home Away From Home
Our 2020 Heartland Prowler 320BH is 36 feet of family camping done right: a queen master up front for mom and dad, a bunkhouse in the back for the kids, and room in the middle for everybody else.
36 ft travel trailer · Sleeps 10–11 · Dual slide-outs
The kids get their own bunkhouse with three bunks. You get a real queen bed behind a real door. And when the whole crew piles in, the convertible dinette and fold-out sofa pick up the slack. Two A/C units keep it cool in an Alabama July, and the electric fireplace makes it cozy on a fall night at the races.
Two Ways to Camp
Most families choose delivery: show up to a campsite that's already leveled, connected, cooled down, and ready for the weekend. But if you've got the truck for it, you're welcome to tow The Prowler yourself.
From $199, based on distance
We tow The Prowler to your campsite, level it, hook up your utilities, and walk you through everything before we leave. When your trip's over, we come tear it all down. You never touch a hitch.
Hitch & sway bars included
Got a capable truck? Pick up The Prowler and take it where the adventure leads. We'll make sure you're set up safely before you pull away.
Where We Go
We're based in Alabaster, right in the heart of Shelby County, which puts a dozen-plus campgrounds, three lakes, and some of the South's biggest event weekends within an easy hour's drive.
Approximate drive times from our home base in Alabaster.
Camping somewhere else? Delivery runs up to 160 miles from Alabaster, so call us and we'll figure it out together.
Our Story
Hello, we're JP & Joy! Long before Hooking and Booking existed, we were simply a mom and dad raising five girls who loved to camp. And when we say camping, you should probably know we may have invented glamping before glamping was even a thing. We started with sleeping bags on the ground. Then came air mattresses. Then cots. Before long we had fans for the heat, heaters for the cold, and enough stuff packed into those tents to make you wonder if we were camping or moving in.
After years of setting up camp for a wife, five girls, and the pets, JP finally decided he was DONE setting all that up. We were buying a camper. That's how Charisse, our very first camper, joined the family. We still had everything we loved (the campfires, the late nights, the laughter, the uninterrupted family time), but getting there looked a whole lot different.
Years later came Darcy, and Darcy was the beginning of Hooking and Booking RV Rentals. The truth is, not everyone can or wants to buy a camper. That shouldn't mean they can't experience it. These days you'll find Darcy listed below as The Prowler, but whatever you call her, the memories made inside her belong to you.
"You're not just booking a camper. You're booking the opportunity to make memories."
The teacher and the problem-solver. JP patiently taught Joy everything that once seemed intimidating about owning a camper, and turned the idea of renting Darcy into something the whole family could build together.
The day-to-day heart of the operation: cleaning, delivering, setting up, picking up. Joy loves meeting the families, race fans, reunion crews, tailgaters and adventurers who come through.
Five girls raised around a campfire: three married college grads, two still in college, all of them still jumping in when life allows. Our youngest, Bray, helped come up with the name Hooking and Booking.
We're animal people, and we know some trips just aren't complete without a few paws along. That's why your small dogs are always welcome aboard ($50 pet fee).
Chairs in a circle, kids on bikes until dark, and nobody in a hurry to leave. This is what we're really renting out.
When we prepare the camper for your trip, we think like a family packing for our own vacation: What would we want to have? What would make things easier? What little thing might somebody forget? What would make it feel like home? Because this has never been about handing someone the keys to a camper. It's about:
From our family to yours, we're blessed to be a little part of them.
